Change of mind

So I decided to change my mind about Obama...i mean how could you not like him!
Gone are the days of personal responsibility; with an Obama Nation it is okay to make mistakes, His Government has promised to take on the consequences. My husband and I realized that with all the great promises Obama has made, we will always be okay in our financial situation...even better! I mean we can go buy a 400,000 dollar dream home, a 60,000 dollar dream car and even though we can't afford this, it is okay b/c according to Obama, not only will we be bailed out but we deserve this and guess what the GOVERNMENT will pay for our financial disaster!!
We also will get FREE healthcare...EVERYONE will get FREE healthcare...isn't that so awesome!! (althought, in the wee dark hours of the night, i wonder where exactly this money will be coming from...gee i sure hope not from our hard earn money, b/c then it would not exactly be free...)
Our country's economic system will improve not just for us but especially for our children; with his plan to slowly abolish a free market system by allowing government to control everything, just make sooo much sense...I mean just look at how well our government has been able to accomplish things in the past (can't wait to see what they do to our healthcare)!!
This whole thing about redistribution of the wealth, it sure does not take a genius to figure out how this will CREATE more money for the middle class and our troubled economy...
No more terrorism and wars to trouble our country with; I hear from all of Obama's community organizing events, he has become quite an extraordinary negotiator.
He is also a pretty popular man these days, as it seems every celebrity in our high moral society of Hollywood has adamantly endorsed him.
Lastly, he is really someone for everyone; he is muslim, christian (probably catholic as well), white, black...(ann coultar, talks more on this).
So please ignore those silly conservatives...They will tell you he is just a puppet to the secular progressives-he is now at there bidding....they will tell you that he is one of the most liberal voting senators in Washington, they will also tell you that he has ties with some pretty bad people...just ignore these lies, and just be complacent to the change that will slowly take place in these next 4 years.

Obama Nation

I have to admit, although I really do not like McCain, I really do not like Obama even more. I was pretty surprised that majority of Americans voted him to be our next president. Not only do we have a very liberal president but we also have liberals running the house and senate! Ahhh! So at first I was pretty fearful about our future. In what direction will these secular progressives take our country? I mean when you have a liberal government like we now have, we will also have very liberal supreme court justices. I never realized how important these guys are but they are the ones who basically define what the constitution is and actually have the power to change it. Therefore, justices who are secular progressives will change our constitution to agree with their views. This is a quote given by Ezra T Benson at a BYU devotional; “…How are they going to know what the Constitution is, so they will know when it is on the brink of ruin? In many of the law schools of today you will hear that the Constitution is whatever the Supreme Court says it is. Could it be that the Supreme Court, which President McKay said is leading this nation down the road to atheism, is the agency to tell us what this divine document is (David O. McKay, Church News, 22 June 1963; Jerreld Newquist, comp., Prophets, Principles, and National Survival, pp. 187–88)? Can we learn best how to preserve it by studying what it is at the hands of some of those who are seeking to destroy it?” I do not ever really remember learning about our constitution, in school. I mean I know we learned a little bit about it but we never really learned it. I think as concerned citizens and as members of the church of Jesus Christ it is our duty to read up and learn about our constitution, so that we can be aware when it is being slowly redefined and we can appropriately fight for the tradition of the founding fathers who were inspired by God to write. (Pres Benson suggests reading a book written by Clarence Carson entitled the American Tradition). I also find comfort in the talks from our recent general conference. How inspired it truly is. There are talks on hope, joy in the journey, a return to virtues, peace with one another, pray always…. I feel that for now we will be okay, that whatever direction our country goes, if we are living righteously and know that ultimately God is in control we have no need to fear.
I have also been so impressed with how well the saints in California heeded the leaders of the church and there call to vote YES to proposition 8. It amazes me to see the outcries of the opponents (I believe over1000 protestors were standing in from of the L.A. temple). Watching the leaders of our church and members standing together to fight this and protect the constitutional amendment of marriage between a man and a women. This truly is a moral issue and one that could have devastating effects to our country had this ban been removed. As I have witnessed this, the quote by Joseph Smith comes to mind; “when the Constitution is upon the brink of ruin, this people will be the staff upon which the nation shall lean, and they shall bear the Constitution away from the very verge of destruction" (M8d 155, Bx4, Joseph Smith, Church Historian's Library).” Until this moment I never truly understood what this meant. Now I understand and now I understand what our job is as members of the Church of Jesus Christ. Now that we have secular progressives in control, we really need to be the watch dogs for the future of our constitution.

The American Dream VS The American Promise

The following is from Wikipedia;
Historian and writer James Truslow Adams coined the phrase "American Dream" in his 1931 book Epic of America:
"The American Dream is that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement... It is not a dream of motor cars and high wages merely, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position."[2]
“Benjamin Franklin creates the archetype of someone coming from low origins, who, against all odds, breaks out of his inherited social position, climbs up the social ladder and creates a new identity for himself. Key factors in this rise from rags to riches are hard work and a solid moral foundation. Franklin also stresses the significance of education for self-improvement. Examples of self-made men, such as Andrew Carnegie, are often used to justify Social Darwinism and to oppose labour movements.
(Social Darwinism is a theory that competition among all individuals, groups, nations or ideas drives social evolution in human societies.)
What this translates to me, is through thrift, honesty, and hard work, we all are given the opportunity to succeed. This is true because we live in the land of the Free (by free I mean freedom from gov’t oppression) the American Dream was never suppose to mean that wealth, fame, and big screen TV’s were a guarantee!
The American Promise aka the utopian society!
Yes you heard it first from me, the American Promise is unrealistic and impossible to achieve. The idea that the Government should and will create this is simply ridiculous and foolish to believe. (Call me a ‘naysayer’ Obama, but I am living in reality.) I actually first heard about this American Promise from Obama at the DNC. However, I realize this is the goal of most liberals.
The American Promise appears to be better than the American Dream (who would have thought that Obama is more saintly than our founding fathers). Let me give you the definition as I see it;
"The American Promise is that Promise of a land in which life will be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with guarantees for each according to the government. It is not a dream , it’s a promise, of motor cars and high wages , a promise in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are deserving, and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position."
It does sound wonderful that everyone should be able to have free education, healthcare, nice homes, and safe places to live, peace to dwell among every nation…this is what EVERYONE would like,however, we have not yet been celestialized, so we make do with what we have. History has shown that a free capitalistic society is the ideal society to have for individuals to have a chance to succeed. When government intervenes and tries to force people to have it all is when we become n oppressed people. Government cannot create a utopian society because we will never have righteous leaders…too much power to one person creates corruption. We want a change from Washington. We as Americans are tired of dirty corrupt politicians. I believe it is because we are sick of the Government messing things up for us (such as our economy). Here Obama wants more Government intervention and it feels like too many Americans are falling for this again! Wake up America, Obama is not for us, he is for himself, he wants that power that all of these politicians are fighting for. If we are not careful we will vote to give that power to him.
